‘Hot Coffee’ sheds light on truth about injury lawsuits

by Admin / Monday, 06 June 2011 / Published in Law Blog

You may remember the famous $2 million lawsuit over the spilled cup of coffee at McDonald’s. It made the TV news, the talk shows, the newspapers.

Now it’s an HBO documentary — with facts, not hype. Susan Saladoff made “Hot Coffee,” which premieres on June 27 at 9 p.m. ET.

As the documentary’s website states, “Hot Coffee reveals what really happened to Stella Liebeck, the Albuquerque woman who spilled coffee on herself and sued McDonald’s, while exploring how and why the case garnered so much media attention, who funded the effort and to what end. After seeing this film, you will decide who really profited from spilling hot coffee.”
