Martin County North Little League Wins Florida State Title

Crary Buchanan would like to extend our earnest congratulations to the Martin County North Little League All Stars for their recent championship victory! On Monday, the team became the new Florida State Little League Champions by beating Sarasota 7-1.

Our firm’s legal administrator, Jim Menendez, is the administrator of the team. His son is a pitcher and outfielder. Our Stuart lawyers congratulate all 13 players, their families, and their couches on this tremendous accomplishment. The team will now advance to the next stage of the Little League Tournament and will be traveling to Warren Robbins, GA to compete in the South Eastern Regional Little League Baseball Tournament.

Attorney Donna DeMarchi Volunteers at Local Library

This past weekend, Attorney Donna DeMarchi – a Stuart personal injury attorney at Crary Buchanan – participated in a volunteer event with the Junior League of Martin County at a local library. The Junior League of Martin County is a nonprofit organization comprised of women who are committed to promoting the benefits of volunteer work, developing the potential of women throughout the region, and to improving the local community through advocacy, leadership, and voluntarism. Since becoming a member with the organization in 2004, Attorney DeMarchi has held a number of roles, including Community VP and Finance VP. She currently serves as President of the Junior League of Martin County.

Supreme Court Rulings Require Higher Burden of Proof in Employment Discrimination Cases

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court issued two decisions that significantly changed the face of employment law and effectively made it more difficult for employees to prove job discrimination. Although both decisions were pivotal, each came by way of a 5-4 majority, with four of the Supreme Court’s liberal judges commenting on the need to fix restrictive rulings. One case narrowed the legal definition of what a supervisor means in sexual and racial discrimination matters. Another resulted in steeper standards for proving illegal retaliation from employers.

Attorney Linda Weiksnar to Serve as Director of Florida Association for Women Lawyers

Crary Buchanan is pleased to announce that Attorney Linda Weiksnar was recently sworn in as Director of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL). Attorney Weiksnar is a highly regarded trial lawyer who works with our firm’s family law division. She is also the past President of the Martin County Bar Association.

Jim Menendez Featured in The Stuart News

Our firm’s very own Jim Menendez was featured in today’s edition of The Stuart News business section. Mr. Menendez’s recognition comes after his recent appointment to a three-year term on the Statewide Advertising and Solicitation Grievance Committee of the Florida Bar. The committee reviews complaints and determines whether disciplinary action should be taken against lawyers who violate professional conduct rules established by the Supreme Court of Florida.

Attorney Donna DeMarchi Attends United for Families’ Fundraiser

Donna E. DeMarchi, a Stuart personal injury attorney at Crary Buchanan, was recently featured in Stuart Magazine’s summer 2013 Issue for her charitable efforts with a recent fundraising event. The United for Families’ “Le Bal Masque,” is the organization’s signature fundraising event and was held at the Mariner Sands Country Club. This year, more than 150 guests were in attendance for a night of fun amid the mystical Black Forest of Germany. The event raised nearly $57,000 for the non-profit organization as they continue their Road to Success program. Attorney DeMarchi served on the event’s planning committee.

Attorney Donna DeMarchi Works with Project LIFT, Kane Center

Crary Buchanan is pleased to announce that Attorney Donna E. DeMarchi volunteered this past Sunday with Project LIFT and helped them work the parking lot for the Stuart Boat Show. Project L.I.F.T. (Life Initiatives for Teens) is a nonprofit organization with a primary investment in the lives of “at-risk” youth. Developed by lifelong Treasure Coast resident Bob Zaccheo, Project LIFT helps address the critical need to help youth struggling with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and family conflict.

Donna Crary Preps for Council on Aging of Martin County Fundraiser

Donna Crary – Attorney Rick Crary’s Wife – was recently featured in Luminaries for her charitable efforts with the Council on Aging of Martin County. A co-chair for the council, Donna Crary was profiled and photographed as she helped prepare for an upcoming 2014 fundraiser.
